Dolceacqua is the most important medieval village of Val Nervia and western hinterland. Consists of two beautiful villages, connected by a bridge medieval "humpback" with a span of 33 meters: one is the newest of the nineteenth century called "Borgo", and the oldest called "Tera" dominated by 'imposing Doria Castle that is reached between picturesque alleyways, wine cellars, and typical craft shops. The famous painter Claude Monet was enraptured by this village to which he dedicated four works by defining the ancient bridge "a jewel of lightness".
